2018 Sneak Peek! Aussie Animal Outing mixed with Nature's Poem

When you attend a Stampin' Up! event it is usually the practice that in our welcome bag (which is always a trendy fun kind bag in itself!) there is at least one stamp set inside.  In Atlanta it was this adorable little set called "Animal Outing"

Of course the Roo with the Koala in her pouch was my favorite part of the set!  You can see how I created the card in the video here (or go to YouTube to watch directly to see it a bit better!)

Some of you may have seen my posts the week that we went to Atlanta. Our first night there we attended an event where we dressed in a 1988 theme to celebrate Stampin' Up!'s 30th Anniversary.  I did look quickly through my 80s pictures for inspiration - I should have looked at this one above - taken in 1989.  I have a nearly identical sweatshirt now from old navy - and I did wear the same Keds that night.  Australia is where I learned to stamp - and since the stamp set isn't available to purchase yet - let's talk a little stamps....and a little aussie wildlife, lol.
And my daughter in 2016

You will have seen in the video that I did fussy cut the image out - but when the catalog is released in June - there WILL be dies - so when we make this card in the summer at camp - you won't have to fussy cut!
Serg and I somewhere...not sure where but feeding the wild kangaroos would get them to stand long enough for a picture.

There will also be a suite of products - papers and some SUPER COOL ribbons that go with the stamp set.  But for this card - I don't have that yet....So I mixed it up with some other new things that I DO have.

This was taken my very first month living in Australia - on Philip Island - then you could walk along the roads and find koalas sleeping in the trees.  I have such fond memories of that trip - but I also owned a very crappy camera - so all of the pictures are like a Koala version of Where's Waldo.

The stamp set doesn't just have these sweet characters -I did pull the frog out - because I love the little limb he is sitting out.  And - just like so many of the creatures in Australia -their frogs are larger than life...so I added the Stella to give him so sparkle of his own!
Philip Island again with my daughter (she was born there - she is half and half!)

The cord that I used is part of the Gracefully Glass suite.  There is some twine that I tossed back and forth but I liked the starkness of the black - and also thought that if you wanted to give the card to a guy - it helped tone down the little sparkle added to our frog friend.

On our last trip back in 2016 we went to Philip Island - in an effort to save the Koalas they are now in a reserve.  You can get much closer to them (though it's not walking the side of the road) and my camera is on a whole new level......
Here is an up close picture of the frog.  In the video you may have noticed that I colored the frog and the limb in with Blends.  The leaves are colored with 2 returning favorite colors - Stampin' Write markers I still happen to have - Mint Macaron and Mossy Meadow!

My mom flew down to Australia when my daughter was born.  When she was just a couple of days old literally one of the first places we took her was to a golf course - because we knew it would be a place that my mom would be able to see Kangaroos in the wild.  Maybe that is where she caught the bug!  So - here is a travel tip for you - should you ever travel down under - one of the best ways to truly see the bush - especially the birds - and hear the sounds - is to go play a round (or 2 or 3!) while there.
The last trip there I think we managed to fit in 4 rounds - they played - I walked and took pictures.  Well, the last one I stayed back and had breakfast with a friend.  But it was early morning.  And early morning on a course just outside the city....you can get shots like this:
and this
it's like a wonderland of roos!

see them all!

But don't worry - there are special rules - you know your score is important!
I attached the copper leaves with a glue dot - there are silver ones included in the set as well  - both look as equally as good on the card.

You can see now why this set has such appeal to me - it makes me want to go back and look at so many of our pictures.  Actually of ALL of the unfinished Scrapbooks that I have (and there are many) 2 of our Australia trips are ones that I do have finished.  Although from the time that I lived there....not much is.  However in the early 2000's I did to an 80's scrapbook.  Now I am so grateful that I did that!  Memories get faded over time - so to have written something down is a good thing!
While I used the Blends on this card - because LOOK, lol - you could use refills or watercolor pencils to get great results as well - but the Blends do such a great job of bringing this pair to life!

Now - for 2 fun things for my Bucket List....While I am a "Melbourne Gal" - Sydney is a FABULOUS city.... Here is a shot of Luna Park I took when we were last there.  While On Stage was being held in Atlanta - Sara and the On Stage team in Australia was at Luna Park holding their On Stage there.  Someday I will attend a Stampin' Up event in Oz.  I learned to stamp there nearly 30 years ago.... so it seems fitting!
Two - if any of the concept artists are reading.....and want to do a part two for the Animal Outing set - how about showing the Wombat some love!!?

Since this set and most of the items used to make it are not available until the new catalog release in June - I will have another card in the set series released then and will have the recipe for you with that!  But for now - remember all of the GREAT stuff that is retiring soon, don't miss your chance to get what is on your current shopping list from that.  Links to the retired list are in yesterday's post and on my shopping site.
